What is Conscious Connected Breathing and why you need to experience it in this lifetime

Your breath is the bridge between your mind, body and spirit. There is probably no one who would say breathing is unnecessary for your wellbeing, and if you ask a holistic healer, coach or a yogi you would definitely hear them mention it often.

The oldest information regarding breathwork or pranayama is possibly from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. His 4th limb from the 8 limbs is about breath control.

There are so many breathing exercises that we can practise. However, my intention is to shed more light on Conscious – Connected – Breathing.

Originally the man behind this process is Leonard Orr. His modality is called Rebirthing Breathwork and his research, practice and discoveries led to something super simple, yet very profound. It’s connecting the inhale to the exhale without any pauses in between in a relaxed manner.

As simple as it may sound, the subconscious mind, cellular memory and years of inhibited breathing are not going to necessarily let the process be that easy.

The aim of this process is to master our breath and to break free from unhealthy breathing habits, while becoming aware intuitively on how to breathe and to allow the flow of energy in our bodies.

So, why do you need to experience conscious connected breathing in this lifetime? Here is my personal breakdown of the top 7 benefits.

1. Releasing tension and unresolved emotions which are repressed in different parts of the body. When a negative/unhealthy thought is stored in your body it doesn’t allow your cells to naturally regenerate and rejuvenate. Thus, it causes disruption to your aliveness and vitality.

2. Overcoming limiting thoughts to feel more confident and empowered. Our thoughts create our reality. Having a thought-feeling that separates us from our infinite self is self-sabotaging. It’s important to process and know our core negative thought to free ourselves from limitations.

3. Improving the health of the physical body, because the blood flows better to the tissues and organs. Our body has the innate tendency to heal itself. Although many diseases often heal with conscious connected or rebirthing breath work, the experience is unique for each individual.

4. Inducing relaxation by releasing inhibited breathing and resolving layers of tension. It is important to deal with the emotions and habits that cause discomfort physically ,emotionally and mentally. To take time for ourselves to understand ourselves better, leads to a healthier and more blissful life.

5. Experiencing the energy body through the 5 senses and beyond. Since this breathing method teaches us to breath in as much as air and energy possible, we will have the tendency to experience energy and the blockages leaving the body. It is a physiological experience of energy which leads to more openness , peace and wellbeing.

6. Processing the birth script, understanding and transforming perinatal psychology. The initial months of our birth are models of living being created in our subconscious mind. Not only do the early stages of our birth shape our life, but conception and womb experience play a major role in how we perceive life.

7. Expanding spiritual psychology to have higher quality thoughts and to live happier and healthier. Connecting to our universal truth, experiencing past life memories and our soul purpose can be understood and processed with our breath. Affirmations and spiritual purification practice are also fundementals to reach to high levels of awareness.

In my 8 years of experience and hundreds of one-to-one sessions conducted, with some adapted group sessions, I have come to a conclusion that to gain self-mastery breathwork is a MUST to experience.

I personally lean more towards a gentle and relaxed breathing process, and although my earlier years were more dramatic during receiving and giving sessions, I have come to realise it is the person’s own mental state that determines the direction of the whole conscious connected breathing process. Therefore, each session is different and new revelations take place. Experiencing with a qualified and experienced breath worker is necessary to understand your own mind & breath and to transform them effectively.
